Gardens

The sculptures of Jean Philippe Richard fit in naturally in gardens. Rising from the soil, they happily share the space with exotic plants. Gazing towards infinity, these sculptures scope the horizon. They gently offer us a fresh and peaceful view over these gardens.

Garden of Èze

Nestled between Nice and Monaco, the garden of the French Riviera is suspended between heaven and earth and was built in 1949 on the ruins of the ramparts of a medieval fortress. It was an exotic garden for a long time and, in 2004, it made way for a new garden concept, where you can encounter Jean-Philippe Richard’s sculptures interspersed with places to relax, to dream and to get away, amongst a fine botanical collection of succulents from Africa, America and the Mediterranean areas. In this wonderful garden that merges discovery, art and history, the visitor can also sit down on the terrace and admire the sculptures along the walk. The sculptor's « goddesses of the earth », arranged along the trail, invite the visitor to meditate. Jean-Philippe Richard created these twenty slender figures. Each of them wordlessly conveys to us the message of its creator: « Silent promises of indescribable happiness, I look at you, and that is enough ».

Provence and Lubéron

Jean-Philippe Richard is emotionally attached to Provence, where he feels at home.

His first taste of success came in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where, for some years, he owned a gallery located in the historic center. One of his bronze sculptures, Justine, still stands in the garden of the public library.

Jean-Philippe Richard also enjoys the green and leafy Lubéron where the jumble of cliff-hanging villages delights him. There is a number of sculptures in the garden of the « Hôtel des Bories » in the charming city of Gordes.
